One-Sided Wall Using RC-6 Resi-Coil Ties A job change required an additional 8" wall to be poured adjacent to an existing poured concrete wall. Steel Dog® RC-6 Resi-Coil™ Ties were chosen to quickly attach 1-1/8" form panels to the existing wall. Powers® Drop-In™ anchors were set into drilled holes in the concrete, which then received short lengths of 1/2" coil rod. Keep in mind that one-sided forming can involve significant pressures on the formwork. Resi-Coil™ Ties are rated for the same Safe Working Load as normal 1-1/8" form ties (2500 lbs.) For one-side forming, however, the limiting factor is generally the method of anchoring to the existing structure. Whether using dropin anchors, epoxy, or other methods, always consult the manufacturer's specifications for the anchoring means. Reducing the tie spacing and the rate of pour are both recommended for one-sided forming. |
